What is a virtual office address?
Don’t let the word ‘virtual’ in the name fool you; this is indeed an actual physical address. A virtual address allows companies to establish a presence in a prestigious location without having to pay hefty rent or deal with the lease. You can trade with the virtual business address both nationally and globally.
How does a virtual address work?
The virtual business address usually comes as a part of a virtual office package. You must purchase a virtual address from a provider like Marsh Virtual Office. And, once the provider has verified all your details, you can start associating your business with the address. All your parcels, letters, and other communications received at the address will be forwarded to you by email or postal service.
Why is a virtual address important?
There are plenty of plausible reasons to use a virtual address for your business. First of all, this is an ideal solution for companies, entrepreneurs, SMEs, startups, and freelancers that don’t have a physical office but still wish to promote their business through a desirable location.
The benefits of having a virtual address are numerous, but here are the top three:
- It helps boosts your company’s image in terms of credibility and trustworthiness
- If you work or do business from your place of residence, it’ll safeguard your home address
- It’s definitely far less expensive than leasing an office or paying rent
Is it legal to use a virtual address?
The answer is a resounding yes — using virtual addresses is standard practice and legal. Not only are providers of virtual addresses regulated and licensed but the service itself is also recognised by Companies House and HMRC.
What is a Registered office address?
Every company registered with Companies House is legally required to provide an official correspondence address. This is what’s referred to as the Registered Office Address. It’s the address to which UK government agencies deliver all legal notices.
What’s a director’s service address?
During the formation of a limited company, the law requires that at least one shareholder and one director be appointed. The director’s service address is the official correspondence address of the said appointed director.
Can the virtual address be used by someone living abroad?
That’s another resounding yes. The vast majority of virtual address providers (including Marsh Virtual Office) accept clients from both inside the UK and abroad. The UK government may have some restrictions on who can purchase and use virtual business addresses based on where you live.
